Dr. Kaushlendra Kumar

Dr. Kaushlendra Kumar serves as the Director, Research, Monitoring and Evaluation (RM&E) at Room to Read India, offering strategic and technical direction for organizational assessments and evaluation. His 16+ years of research experience in population and development issues have shaped RM&E strategies for large-scale programs. His expertise extends to study design, evaluation protocols, and data analytics, fostering evidence-based decisions.

Previously, Dr. Kaushlendra served as ‘Vice President - Research and Evaluation’ at a research firm and ‘Deputy Director - Monitoring, Learning and Evaluation’ at Evidence Action. His experience includes roles at NIHFW, Government of India, and MAMTA Health Institute for Mother and Child, New Delhi. He has also taught at IIPS, Mumbai, and conducted research at TISS, Mumbai.

Dr. Kaushlendra has a Ph.D. and M.Phil. in Population Studies from IIPS and a postgraduate degree in Statistics from Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi. An active academic contributor, he has presented his research at numerous national and international seminars and conferences, contributing to the global discourse on population studies. He has also published several research papers in different peer-reviewed national and international journals/edited books. 

He was awarded the prestigious “Parkes Foundation Grant” in recognition of his distinguished Ph.D. work from the “University of Cambridge”, United Kingdom in 2011
